Deep Fried Strawberries

Ingredients

3 dozen large ripe strawberries
454 gr Plain flour (16oz)
1/4 teaspoon sugar
5 egg whites
Pinch salt
Pinch cream of tartar
250 ml beer (1 1/3 pints)
50 ml milk

Method

Wash and remove leaves from strawberries. Mix flour, sugar and salt. Add beer & milk and beat until smooth. In a small bowl whip egg whites & cream of tartar until mixture is stiff. Carefully fold beaten egg whites into batter making sure it is mixed thoroughly. Coat strawberries with batter and drop in hot oil for about 2 minutes. Drain & dust with icing sugar. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
